Syed Ali Shah:
Quetta: At the National Party’s seventh central convention, chaired by Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch, party leaders and representatives addressed global economic turmoil, regional conflicts, and the state of democracy in Pakistan. Dr. Malik highlighted the shift from a unipolar to multipolar economic world, where powers like China, India, and Brazil are gaining influence. He criticized U.S. and Israeli aggression, especially the ongoing violence in Gaza, and warned of potential impacts if the conflict spreads to Iran.
Addressing democracy in Pakistan, Dr. Malik stated that democratic values have been undermined, with key institutions overtaken by the establishment. He voiced concern over enforced disappearances, weakened nationalist voices, and growing youth disillusionment with parliamentary politics, adding, “Balochistan’s assembly has lost respect as governance is controlled by the establishment.”
Central and provincial leaders, including Senator John Muhammad Baladi, Khairbakhsh Baloch, and Yasmin Lahri, presented progress reports from their units, while provincial representatives voiced commitment to upholding Balochistan’s national rights and historical identity. The National Party emphasized its role as a unifying force for progressive, nationalist, and philanthropic activists across Pakistan, rallying to protect regional rights amidst the country’s changing political landscape.
