Over 3,00,000 people have been tested positive for the novel coronavirus across the globe on Sunday, according to a tally by John Hopkins University. The deadly virus has killed 12944 people so far with most of the deaths from mainland China, Italy, and Iran. The virus has claimed 323 lives in all states of America, the tally says.
China confirmed six new deaths and 46 additional cases of novel coronavirus as of the end of day Saturday, according to China’s National Health Commission (NHC).
None of the latest cases were reported out of Hubei province — the epicenter of China’s outbreak — making this the fourth straight day that the province has seen no new cases.
Of the 46 new cases, 45 were imported, bringing the total number of imported cases to 314.
The death toll in Hubei is now 3,144, and the nation’s overall death toll stands at 3,261. In total, China has had 81,054 confirmed coronavirus cases, according to NHC.
The NHC added that 72,244 patients in mainland China had recovered and been discharged from the hospital.
Italy:
Soldiers were being drafted in to help enforce the lockdown in Italy on Friday as officials announced 627 new deaths, the largest single-day toll anywhere in the world since the coronavirus outbreak began.
Iran: The deadly virus has claimed hundreds of lives in Iran and the country has imposed emergency to cope with the situation. 23 members of the Iranian parliament were already tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Thousands of Iranians have been tested positive for the COVID-19.
The virus has spread to over 150 countries in almost all continents of the globe, sending alarm bells on the planet. The states are trying to cope with emerging situations as a result of the pandemic.
