The third case of poliovirus was reported from North Waziristan on Sunday. The number of cases of the crippling virus reached three this year in Pakistan. A statement from the Ministry of Health confirmed the poliovirus in a one-year minor child in erstwhile FATA.
Local health officials had collected samples of the minor child earlier. The laboratory report confirmed the crippling virus and this was declared the third polio case in Pakistan during the year 2022.
Health officials had already reported two cases of the poliovirus from North Waziristan. Pakistan had earlier celebrated a year without any polio cases. However, three cases from the volatile North Waziristan has again sent alarm bells among the parents across Pakistan.
