QUETTA: Sugar price per kilogram reached Rs. 220 in the provincial capital as common person witnessed worst inflation currently. “Yes, now we are selling sugar per kg at Rs. 220”, Abdul Hanan, a sugar dealer in the city’s Kandahari Bazar area told Daily Quetta Voice.
The skyrocketing prices of sugar have several affected common man. The government claimed to have launched a crackdown against the elements involved in sugar smuggling. Nevertheless, the people are forced to pay skyrocketing prices of sugar.
“Sugar sale dropped”, Dealers Complained
“Sugar sale dropped and we are concerned about our business”, Abdul Hanan lamented. He said sugar was also likely to complete three centuries in view of increasing prices.
Customs department claimed to have seized dozens of trucks loaded with sugar near Pak Afghan border. The Caretaker Prime Minister, Anwaar ul Haq Kakar had also directed to establish a specific cell against smuggling at the home department in Balochistan to stop the smuggling of commodities.
End sugar smuggling: People demand
However, people are critical of the interim government for increasing prices of commodities. “Action, no lip service”, Samad Khan, a daily wage worker demanded. He urged the government to translate its words into action regarding an end to smuggling.
