KARACHI: Eighteen young graduates from Balochistan have been selected for the 2024 Reko Diq International Graduate Development Program (IGP) organized by the Reko Diq Mining Company (RDMC) under the operation of Barrick.

The program, launched in 2023, provides hands-on, two-year training at world-class mining sites in Argentina and Zambia.

Barrick CEO Mark Bristow welcomed the cohort during a ceremony in Karachi, urging participants to embrace this opportunity.

Selected through a competitive process from over 3,000 applicants, the group includes four women, showcasing Barrick’s commitment to gender diversity in the mining sector. Participants hold degrees in fields such as Electrical Engineering, Mining Engineering, and Environmental Sciences.

Graduates represent districts across Balochistan, including Panjgur, Quetta, and Chagai. The program aims to bridge the skills gap, foster local empowerment, and contribute to regional economic development.

Barrick’s focus on cross-border learning further strengthens the capacity of the local workforce, preparing them to lead and contribute to mining operations in Pakistan.
