Gas Cylinder Blast Injured 31 Children, 2 Men in Kohlu Balochistan

KOHLU: A gas cylinder blast has left 31 children and 2 men injured in Balochistan’s Kohlu district on Sunday. The gas cylinder exploded during a wedding party in the Bohri area of Kohlu, Haq Nawaz, a police officer told Quetta Voice. The children had gathered around a potato chips seller when the gas cylinder exploded with a big bang, Haq Nawaz mentioned.

“Gas cylinder exploded in the middle of children”, the police officer stated. The injured children rushed to the district headquarters hospital for medical treatment. Emergency imposed in the hospital to provide first aid to the injured children. Immediately,  health professionals called to treat the injured by the blast.

“33 injured including 31 children brought to the hospital”, Dr. Asghar Marri, the District Health Officer (DHO) Kohlu said. He said 13 seriously injured children referred to Punjab province for medical treatment. Dr. Marri said two potato chips sellers were also among the injured.

A crowd of children had surrounded the chips sellers during a wedding party in the Bohri area, the police officer Haq Nawaz said.

Soon after the incident, the member provincial assembly from Kohlu, Naseebullah Marri reached the hospital and inquired about the health condition of the injured children. The ruling party, Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf (PTI) MPA Naseebullah Marri ordered doctors to provide better health treatment.

“Childre should be provided better health facilities”, Mr. Marri said on the occasion. All senior doctors and paramedical staff called in the emergency ward to treat the injured children.

Levies and police personnel also reached the spot of the gas cylinder explosion as an investigation into the incident went underway. The wedding party turned into mourning after the incident.
