QUETTA: The Balochistan government has decided to close all public and private educational institutions till March 31st in the province in view of looming threat of novel corona virus in the province. Balochistan education minister, Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind told a press conference that the decision to extend closure of educational institutions was made after consultation with health department and surfacing of corona virus case in the province.
Educational institutions in Balochistan’s winter zone were scheduled to be opened on March 1st this month. Following global spread of novel corona virus, the provincial government had decided to close the institutions till March 15th.
“Next decision about opening or closure would be made on March 27th”, Sardar Rind told reporters. He said heads of all Madaris (religious schools) would also be consulted regarding the closure of madaris in the wake of reports of corona virus in the country.
So far, a total 21 cases have been reported across the country. Dr. Zafar Mirza, the adviser on health for the prime minister stated that all tested positive had the history of travelling to Iran and other virus hit countries.
