QUETTA: Two miners were trapped inside a coal mine in Balochistan’s Mach area on Sunday morning. Shafqat Mehmood, the Chief Inspector Mines said the miners were working deep inside the mine when one of its portions collapsed.
“Rescue operation has been launched to rescue the trapped miners”, Mr. Mehmood said. So far, we have no information about any casualty, he added.
Locals told Quetta Voice via telephone on Sunday afternoon that miners were engaged in rescue operations on their own to rescue the trapped colleagues. They claimed so far no official had reached to participate in the rescue operation.
Mach is located in Balochistan’s Bolan district and houses rich coal reservoirs in its mountains. This incident has come almost a month after a month in Balochistan’s Mach area.
Hazardous working conditions inside coal mines of Balochistan appear to be one of the underlying reasons behind increasing incidents of coal mines incidents.
