Armed accused kidnapped four coal miners in Balochistan’s Harnai district, killing two of them. Levies sources said armed accused killed two coal miners and released another two. The incident happened in a coal mine company located in Shahrag area of the Harnai district.

After the kidnapping, the Frontier Corps and Levies launched a search operation in the area to make sure unhurt recovery of the hostages. However, two coal miners were killed by the kidnappers and two were set free by them.

The dead bodies were shifted to Shahrag rural health center and a large number of political activists blocked Quetta-Harnai road to protest over the incident. The victims were identified as Zameen Swati and Zafar Khan. “We want justice for the dead miners”, Peer Muhammad Kakar, a central leader of mines association told Quetta Voice via telephone.

The Deputy Commissioner Harnai, Azeem Jan Dumar and Colone Tahir Munir of the FC held negotiations with protesters and the road was opened following the assurance of the officials.

Activists of Awami National Party (ANP), (PKMAP) and other political parties strongly condemned the incident and demanded the arrest of culprits involved in the cold-blooded murder of coal miners.

Shahrag, Tehsil of Harnai has rich coal reservoirs. However, armed accused in the past too had targetted the coal miners and mines owners.
