Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday urged upon the nation to take responsibility and not celebrate the upcoming Eidul Fitr as they normally do.

“This Eid is different,” the premier said, stressing that the spread of the coronavirus can only be controlled through taking precautions. “I believe we will emerge [out of this crisis] as a strong nation,” he added.

Cash Handouts 

Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that cash handouts to people who have been laid off because of the lockdown enforced to contain the spread of the coronavirus cases will begin from Monday.

He added that the amount for the handouts would be taken from the PM’s Corona Relief Fund.

The premier also said that the government was trying to reach a consensus with provinces on opening public transport to facilitate poor people.

Govt prepared to tackle increasing cases of Covid19

Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the government is prepared to deal with an increase in the number of coronavirus cases and is working on increasing healthcare capacity.

The premier said that although Pakistan’s cases were much less than the projected 52,000, the case numbers would continue to increase. “It is estimated that four in hundred people infected by the virus will need to go to hospital.”
