Staff Reporter:

Pakistan Customs on Friday foiled a major bid of smuggling narcotics by seizing 430 kgs of hashish (charas) at Balochistan’s Pishin district. Customs officials seized hashish from a bus coming from the Pak-Afghan border, an official of the Pakistan Customs told the daily Quetta Voice on condition of anonymity since he was not authorized to speak to the media.

However, no arrest was made during the raid. The accused took benefit of the darkness and fled from the spot since the customs staff was busy in searching the bus.

The hashish worth almost Rs. 100 million in the market, he said. He mentioned the raid was conducted on the instructions of Irfan Javed, the Collector Customs Balochistan who had received information about the smuggling bid. The hashish was being smuggled to various parts of the country, he told the daily Quetta Voice. FIR is being lodged against unknown accused, he said.
