Balochistan reports 26th polio case of 2020

Anti polio campaign would be resumed in Quetta on July 20th after suspension of the campaign for last more than four months owing to the novel coronavirus. Sources in the health department told the daily Quetta Voice that during the campaign 1,10000 children under the age of five years would be provided anti-polio vaccines.

Anti polio campaign was suspended in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan in the aftermath of the outbreak of the deadly virus across the globe. “The campaign would be resumed on 20th of July only in Quetta”, an official of the Balochistan health department who declined to be named said. He was not authorized to speak to the media.

Up til now, Balochistan has confirmed 14 cases of the crippling virus this year. Most of the cases have been reported from Quetta, Killa Abdullah, Pishin and other parts of Balochistan.

The Balochistan government has already put all departments on alert to tackle the situation developed after the outbreak of the deadly virus. The Polio campaign was severely affected by the novel coronavirus and institutions and instruments were put on high alert to contain the deadly virus.
