Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan on Tuesday said dualization of Quetta-Ziarat road would boost tourism in the province. He expressed these views while chairing a high-level meeting regarding the construction of roads in Balochistan under the public sector development program.

The meeting also decided some changes in the construction of road from Ziarat-Cross to Ziarat and the Communication and Works (C&W) department was directed to submit a report in this regard. The establishment of tourist points on the roadside was approved to boost tourism activities in the area.

The meeting was informed that last year 2,500 km of roads were constructed under the public sector development program, whereas, this year, 4,000 km of roads would be constructed under the current budget.

The meeting also discussed the ongoing development schemes under the federal PSDP and made important decisions in this regard. Dukki to Chamalang, Sibi-Kohlu road and Barkhan and Rakhni roads were also discussed during the meeting.

During the current year, 411 schemes of construction of roads were included in the budget for the year 2020-21. “Construction of roads play an important role in the socio-economic development of the province”, the Chief Minister remarked.

He directed the concerned quarters to make sure quality of work and timely completion of projects.
