The newly appointed chairman, Balochistan Public Service Commission (BPSC), Abdul Salik Khan assumed the charge of the office on Monday. The Chairman met with members and staff of the Commission. He assured members of the commission and staff of the solution to their problems.

The Balochistan government had appointed the former ambassador to Indonesia as chairman BPSC for a period of five years on a contract basis. His appointment has come after the retirement of Justice (R) K.N Kohli this year. Mr. Kohli had established the credibility of the Commission and restored the confidence of candidates in the process of recruitment.

Mr. Salik Khan represented Pakistan in various countries as an envoy

Mr. Salik Khan has represented Pakistan in Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan, and other countries. He is considered to be one of the dynamic diplomats in the country. Mr. Khan belongs to Quetta Nawan Killi’s well-known Yousafzai family. People belonging to various walks of life have welcomed the appointment of Salik Khan as the chairman of BPSC.

BPSC plays an important role in governance and transparency in Balochistan

The BPSC plays an important role in the governance and transparency in Balochistan since it has the mandate to recommend officers in all civilian departments. In the past, various successive governments posted their blue-eyed as chairmen of BPSC. However, the outgoing chairman Mr. Kohli deserves to be appreciated for the restoration of the confidence of candidates in the BPSC.

The commission lost its credibility during Kohli’s predecessor Muhammad Ashraf Magsi. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested Mr. Magsi and he spent years behind the bars for committing irregularities in the recruitment process. This resulted in candidates losing confidence in the BPSC.
