Baz Shaheed Digital Library inaugurated in Quetta

Baz Muhammad Kakar Shaheed’s digital library inaugurated on the eve of the fourth anniversary of the Quetta suicide bombing, which claimed 75 lives including 56 members of the legal fraternity. Justice Abdullah Baloch of the Balochistan High Court (BHC) inaugurated the first digital library established on the western outskirts of the city.

Judges of the BHC including Mr. Justice Hashim Khan Kakar, Mr. Justice Kamran Khan Malakhail, Vice-Chairman Balochistan Bar Council (BBC), Munir Ahmed Kakar, former federal minister Roshan Khursheed Bharucha and other high ups participated in the inaugural ceremony. The founder of Shaheed Baz Muhammad Kakar Foundation (SBMK), Dr. Laal Khan Kakar thoroughly briefed the participants on the function of the objective and targets of the library in the province.

Library to open new vistas of knowledge

“Library will open new vistas of knowledge for young generation”, Justice Baloch said while addressing on the occasion. The idea of the library was soon developed by SBMK in the aftermath of the Quetta carnage that claimed almost the lives of almost a generation of lawyers.

“Quetta deserves such a library and youngsters must spare time to study here”, Roshan Khursheed Bharucha stated on the occasion. “Despite all difficulties, we managed to launch the library”, Dr. Laal Kakar mentioned.

The speakers spoke at length about the importance and need of libraries in the prevailing digital and knowledge era.

Library established in the memory of martyred lawyers 

Dr. Laal Khan Kakar, the brother of the slain lawyers’ leader established the first digital library in the memory of fallen members of the legal fraternity of Balochistan province. “In a personal capacity, I have been able to give an opportunity to deserving students to study here”, Dr. Kakar said.

The library has been established under the supervision of Shaheed Baz Muhammad Kakar Foundation. The foundation comprising of a board of directors belonging to various walks of life with a good social reputation.
