Veteran Baloch nationalist leader, Senator Hasil Khan Bizenjo breathed his last in a private hospital in Karachi on Thursday evening. Jan Muhammad Buledi, the Central Secretary-General of National Party (NP) confirmed to daily Quetta Voice that Senator Bizenjo has breathed his last in Karachi. Late Bizenjo was already diagnosed with lung cancer and was battling the deadly disease for the last few years.

Senator Bizenjo would be buried in his ancestral graveyard in Naal district Khuzdar near the grave of his late father Mir Ghous Bakhsh Bizenjo on Friday at 5 pm, Dr. Ishaq Baloch, the Central leader NP said.

Leaders of political parties, intellectuals, writers, authors, journalists and people belonging to various walks of life have expressed grief and sorrows over the sad demise of Senator Hasil Bizenjo. In their separate statements, chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Pakistan Muslim League (N) leader Shehbaz Sharif, ANP President Asfandyar Wali Khan, Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party Chairman, Mehmood Khan Achakzai, Senator Sarfaraz Bugti, finance minister Balochistan, Mir Zahoor Buledi and others expressed grief and sorrows over the demise of Senator Hasil Bizenjo.

COAS condoles: 

Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa also expressed grief and sorrows over the demise of Baloch leader Mir Hasil Khan Bizenjo. In a tweet by the ISPR, the Army Chief extended condolences to family members and friends of late Bizenjo.

Who was Hasil Bizenjo: 

Hasil Bizenjo was born on February 3rd, 1958 at Naal, Tehsil of Khuzdar district. “Since childhood, I started politics I do not know the exact date”, Mr. Bizenjo tells the author when asked about starting a political career. In class six, I served as the unit secretary of the Baloch Students Organization (BSO). Hasil Bizenjo passed his middle-level education from Naal and then took admission in the ninth class at Islamia School Quetta. He passed matriculation from Islamia School in 1975 and then moved to Karachi University. In the 1980s, Hasil Bizenjo passed BA honors from the Philosophy department from Karachi University in 1986-87.
He got married in 1988.
After the demise of his father Mir Ghous Bakhsh Bizenjo on August 11, 1989, Hasil Bizenjo joined the Pakistan National Party (PNP). For the first time, Mr. Bizenjo was elected as a member national assembly during bye-elections in 1990 Khuzdar cum Awaran. He however lost elections during 1993’s general elections.
Throughout General (R) Pervez Musharraf’s government, Hasil Bizenjo struggled for supremacy of parliament and democracy in the country.
Bizenjo spent precious days of life behind the bar during his struggle for rule of law and supremacy of constitution. For the first time, he was arrested during Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s government. He was accused of burning the office of the Pakistan Peoples Party at that time. He was studying in metric when arrested as an activist of Baloch Students Organization (BSO). As a political activist, Mr. Bizenjo was twice arrested from Karachi University in the 1980s and then spent 4 months behind the bar during the ARD movement in Karachi. Hasil Bizenjo was behind the bars when former president Musharraf announced general elections in the country during 2002.
