Fake domiciles: Commissioners to submit a report on 23rd Sept before BHC

The Balochistan High Court (BHC) has directed all commissioners to submit a report about fake domiciles in their districts on 23rd September before the court. A divisional bench of the BHC comprising chief justice, Mr. Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail, and Mr. Justice Abdul Hameed Baloch passed this order on a constitutional petition. Dost Muhammad Advocate had filed a petition in this regard.

This is a very serious issue, which affects the rights of people of this province, the bench remarked. On the basis of domicile and local certificates, the students get admissions in educational institutions, scholarships, and jobs, the court noted.

ACS Home directed to appear

The court directed all deputy commissioners to submit a report about fake and suspected domicile certificates on September 23rd. The bench also ordered the Additional Chief Secretary (Home) to appear in person before the court along with the record.

The court in a written order said that the government has already taken notice of fake domiciles in Balochistan, but the process was slow. The scrutiny process is slow. The bench has also directed the divisional commissioners to personally monitor the process of verification and scrutiny of domicile certificates.

The commissioners should submit the report from deputy commissioners through the Advocate General Balochistan. Governor Balochistan Justice (R) Amanullah Khan Yaseenzai and Chief Minister, Jam Kamal have also directed all 33 deputy commissioners to make sure proper verification of all domicile certificates.

Deputy Commissioner Mastung has already cancelled 400 fake domiciles issued to people in the past. Similarly, the deputy commissioner Quetta has also cancelled 122 fake domicile certificates.

Sources in Balochistan home and tribal affairs department revealed that thousands of fake domiciles have been made through different means in the province.
