Protest rally in Gwadar against narcotics

GWADAR : Political parties and members of civil society took out a protest rally against the curse of narcotics in Gwadar. Protesters marched on different roads of Gwadar to record their protest against the spread of narcotics. Crowds of protesters gathered at Sirat un Nabi Chowk to vent their anger against drug peddlers.

“We demand action against narcotics smugglers”, Haji Muhammad Azam Kalanchi, the President of civil society Gwadar told the protesters. He lashed out at the government for its failure to eradicate the curse of drugs from society. The curse of narcotics destroyed scores of families in Balochistan. 

The protesters had carried placards and banners inscribed with slogans condemning an overt sale of narcotics in Gwadar and other areas. They also chanted slogans against the government and demanded action against drug peddlers.

Practical action against drug peddlers demanded

“We want practical action against drug peddlers”, Mir Arshad Kamlati, another civil society activist said. Mr. Kalmati said the curse of narcotics have destroyed a large number of families.

The protesters demand an imposing a complete ban on the sale of wine and other drugs to the young generation. They also demanded strict action against international drug traffickers using sea routes near Gwadar.

Lawyers should not contest cases of drug peddlers in courts 

“Lawyers should not contest cases of drug peddlers in courts”, Riaz Baloch, another protester demanded on the occasion. People of the society should join hands against the drug peddlers and mount pressure on the government, he said.

The protest rally also adopted resolutions for the eradication of the curse of narcotics from Gwadar and surrounding areas. They demanded of the provincial government to issue an order to the medical stores owners not to sell medicines without any medical expert prescription.
