Balochistan Cabinet approves women empowerment policy 2020

The Balochistan cabinet on Tuesday approved the women empowerment and gender equality policy 2020. Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan chaired the cabinet meeting that made important decisions after thorough discussions with legislators.

The cabinet approves the women empowerment and gender equality policy 2020 after thorough consultation with all stakeholders, an official hand issued here said. The underlying reason behind the amendment in women empowerment policy 2013 is to provide space for women to play their due role in politics, social issues. Women will be having the freedom to play their role in sports in the province.

“Gender Equality and Women Empowerment Policy is a landmark achievement for all of us”, Ayesha Wadood, the head of UN Women sub-office Balochistan said.

UN Women has technically supported this initiative when the policy framework was first developed in 2013 and continued to support the realignment of the policy to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2020. “This decision is likely to bring a lasting change in the lives of the women and girls of Balochistan”, Ayesha Wadood stated.

The decision on the part of the Balochistan cabinet has come after an increase in violence against women in the province. This year, record cases of violence against women recorded in Balochistan. 

Cabinet approves professional, risk allowances for health professionals 

The cabinet made a number of important decisions. It also approved a professional allowance for the paramedical staff of the health department from grade-2 to 14 and risk allowance from grade-1 to 4. The reason behind these allowances was aimed at improving health facilities and services in government-run hospitals in the province. The cabinet also adopted the Pak-Oman hospital bill 2020.

The Balochistan cabinet also evolved a policy with regard to the purchase of equipment and the release of funds in the battle against the COVID19.

Balochistan Cabinet approves establishment of food laboratories in Quetta and Khuzdar 

The cabinet approved the establishment of mobile food laboratories in Quetta and Khuzdar to ensure timely checking of food items.  “This will ensure a better quality of food items in the province”, the official statement said.  Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan on the occasion directed the concerned departments to make sure implementation of all decisions of the provincial cabinet to support the masses.
