Balochistan education dept appoints 450 female teachers in grade-17
Education Desk :
The Balochistan education department has appointed 450 female teachers as Senior Science Teachers (General and Science) in the province. All-female teachers appointed in grade-17 on the recommendation of the Balochistan Public Service Commission (BPSC), the Secretary Secondary Education, Sher Khan Bazai told Quetta Voice.
The education department would post the newly recruited teachers in all seven zones of Balochistan. “This will help us overcome the lack of female teachers in the province”, Mr. Bazai mentioned. The BPSC had advertised over 12,00 posts of male and female teachers last year. The process of tests and interviews took over a year since thousands of candidates appeared in the process.
The newly recruited teachers would be given 20 to 25 days of initial training prior to their deployment, Secretary Education stated. The department will also issue appointment orders of male teachers after getting the final recommendation list from the BPSC, he added.
No appointment over 9,000 teachers jobs despite tests, interviews
The Balochistan government had also announced over 9,000 vacancies in teachers of lower caders during 2019. However, successful candidates are yet to get their orders. The candidates have established a protest camp outside Quetta Press Club to mount pressure on the government to issue them orders. However, the Secretary of education said the districts are yet to compile merit lists. “We have no issue rather it is the mandate of the districts to finalize the merit list”, he said.
In Balochistan, the number of government-run primary, middle and high schools is over 14,000. The former secretary of education Ghulam Ali Baloch in an interview with Quetta Voice revealed that 3,200 schools were non-functional. The present government has allocated more than Rs. 75bs for secondary and higher education to improve the quality of education.
