Landmine blast injured 5 coal miners in Balochistan Harnai

QUETTA: A landmine blast has injured 5 coal miners in Balochistan’s Harnai district on Friday. Levies sources said the vehicle of coal miners hit a land mine planted on a roadside in the Jalavan area of the Shahrag area of Harnai of Balochistan province.
The coal miners were on their way from Shahrag to their coal mine when their vehicle hit the landmine, levies said. Three coal miners critically injured in the blast. The injured miners rushed to Quetta hospital for medical treatment.
Law enforcers reached the spot to probe into the incident
Levies and personnel of frontier corps reached the spot as an investigation into the incident went underway. The blast also damaged the pick up of coal miners. Levies said the condition of two injured miners was stable. Therefore, they were treated in a local basic health unit. Seriously wounded coal miners were also provided first-aid at Harnai hospital. Then, they were shifted to Quetta for medical treatment, Levies added.
Levies said all the injured coal miners belong to Afghanistan. Panic prevailed among the coal miners working in the nearby mines after the blast. The blast was heard far and wide causing panic in the area.
In Balochistan, hundreds of coal miners have lost their lives inside coal mines as a result of hazardous working conditions. However, armed accused have also targeted the coal miners in the past.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the blast that left 5 miners injured.
Poverty-hit people from Swat, Shangla, Afghanistan, and Toba Kakari area of Balochistan have been working in coal mines of Balochistan for years. The poorly-paid coal mine workers have been extracting coal, which is called black-gold in Balochistan at the cost of their lives.
