Hashmi calls for Speakers Conference to sort out prevailing political crisis

Staff Reporter :

Founder of the ruling Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) and senior parliamentarian, Saeed Ahmed Hashmi has called for speakers conference to sort out the prevailing political crisis in the country. “Speakers conference is an unbiased and undisputed forum to debate national issues”, Mr. Hashmi said in a statement released to the press on Sunday evening.

He stated that current tension between the government and the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) cannot serve the national interests. “A national narrative is the need of hours to mitigate the impacts of current agitation”, he suggested.

The senior parliamentarian pointed out that issues of COVID19, unemployment, inflation, and other important issues ignored owing to the current political crisis in the country. Constitutionally, the speaker of the national assembly and provincial assemblies are impartial, therefore, they can play the role of fire-fighters.

“Speakers conference can bring an end to the current crisis”

“Speaker conference can bring an end to the current crisis”, he mentioned. Mr. Hashmi suggested the anti-government alliance be confined to the political field and avoid targeting national institutions in an internal political battle.

He said the government and the opposition political parties have to put their heads together to find an amicable solution. “They should think beyond personal interests rather they have to keep in mind national interests”, Mr. Hashmi said.
