Thousands of football fans turn up as WAPDA won CM Balochistan Gold-Cup Final

QUETTA: Thousands of football fans turned up to witness the final match between Pakistan WAPDA and Muslim Club Chaman during the Chief Minister Balochistan Gold-Cup Tournament. WAPDA defeated the Muslim Club Chaman by one goal in the first half of the match, thus winning the final of the tournament. “We are very happy that a huge crowd turned up for every match of this tournament”, Abdul Khaliq Hazara, the Adviser to CM Balochistan on Sports said.

Supporters of both football teams chanted full-throated slogans during the match watched by thousands of football fans. “Football has been played and watched with passion here”, Imran Gichki, the Secretary Sports Balochistan said.

44 football teams participated in the tournament 

Overall, 44 teams from all provinces of the country participated in the CM Balochistan Gold-Cup. “Tournament organized in Quetta after a long time”, Haji Abdul Manan, the Chairman Balochistan Football Association told Quetta Voice. The Adviser to the CM announced to organize a football tournament every year to encourage local footballers and boost sports activities.

On some occasions, the spectators from Chaman tried to sneak inside the ground. However, the batons-wielding policemen pushed them back. “It is very difficult for us to enter into the ground”, Muhammad Aslam, an aged football fan told Quetta Voice outside the Ayub Stadium where the final match played.

Youngsters danced on beats of drums 

During the match, the youngsters danced on beats of drums. Throughout the match, clapping and slogans dominated the scene. The winner of the tournament i.e WAPDA awarded a cash reward of Rs. 5 lakh besides the Gold-Cup. The runner team also awarded a cash prize and cup.

Later on, the Adviser to the CM on Sports, Abdul Khaliq Hazara, Secretary Sports Imran Gichki, Commissioner Quetta Division, Asfandyar Khan Kakar, and others distributed certificates.
