First cargo ship carrying seafood arrives Gwadar

GWADAR: First cargo ship carrying seafood arrived in Pakistan’s port city of Gwadar on Tuesday morning. The cargo ship loaded with seafood came from China. The officials at the port received the ship at the deep seaport.

Trade activities resumed at Gwadar deep sea port. This will open new vistas of development and prosperity in the country and region, the officials said.

Officials said the cargo ship was carrying 203 metric tons of seafood. Unloading from the cargo ship is underway at this point in time. Later on, the seafood would be exported to other countries via small ships, they explained.

Pakistan had constructed the Gwadar Deep Sea Port, a giant multi-billion dollar project with the financial help of China. Former president General (R) Pervez Musharraf and Chinese Minister of Communication had formally inaugurated the Gwadar Port on May 21, 2007.

China had provided 80 percent of Gwadar Port’s $248 million initial development costs. Pakistan and China have jointly launched a giant multi-billion dollar project CPEC to link the port with other parts of the country, China, Central Asian states, and Afghanistan. CPEC is considered to be the game-changer in terms of economic development and opening new vistas of jobs, economic activities.
