Govt approves Rs.1b to address gas pressure issue in Quetta

QUETTA: The federal government has approved Rs. 1 bs package to address the issue of low gas pressure in Quetta. The Deputy Speaker, National Assembly Qasim Khan Suri announced this at a news conference at the press club on Wednesday.
The government’s decision has come after continued gas load shedding and low gas pressure in various parts of the city. PTI leaders including Sardar Khadim Hussain Wardag, the General Manager Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), Madni Siddiqui, and others were also present on the occasion.
Mr. Suri said citizens of Quetta were facing the issue of low gas pressure for the last few years in every winter. “Low gas pressure in a chilly weather is an agony indeed”, the Deputy Speaker mentioned.
40 years old gas pipelines weak, outdated in Quetta
He stated that gas pipelines laid down 40 years back were now outdated and weak. “Such gas pipelines cannot afford the burden of gas pressure anymore”, he said.
The deputy speaker NA said the federal government has approved the Rs. 1bs package, which would be implemented during 2021. “New pipeline would be laid down to address the issue once and for all”, he said.
Mr. Suri said his government committed to developing all parts of Balochistan. For the first time in the history of a country, a prime minister visited Turbat and announced a development package, he noted. “Southern Balochistan would come at par with developed parts of the country”, he said.
