QUETTA: Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and Vice President Pakistan Muslim League (N), Maryam Nawaz have urged Prime Minister Imran Khan to accept the demands of the Hazara community.
The two mainstream opposition leaders arrived in Quetta on Thursday evening and met with the protesting ethnic Shia Hazara community. The opposition leaders expressed solidarity with the Hazara community and strongly condemned the brutal killing of coal miners in Balochistan’s Mach area.
“Your protest really pains us”, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari told the protesting Hazaras. He said it was a matter of serious concern that the Hazara community has been protesting for justice in this harsh chilly weather. The ethnic Shia Hazara community has been protesting against the killing of coal miners for the last five days in Quetta’s Western Bypass area.
“I will continue to raise voice for you”, Bilawal said
“I assure you that I would ensure justice to you and all martyrs”, he said as his voice cracks while seeing the dead bodies lying before him. The PPP chairman said, “it was not a justice that every martyr’s family seeking justice”. He lamented that the most patriotic people were sitting and demanding justice. “Justice must prevail”, he said.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari recalled that in the past his party had dismissed its own government when the Hazara community demanded its removal in protest over a terrorist incident.
Maryam lashes out at PM Imran Khan
Addressing the Hazara community, PML N Vice-President Maryam Nawaz lashed out at Prime Minister Imran Khan for what he calls a stubborn attitude on the part of the latter. She said it was a matter of serious concern that the protest entered in its fifth day but the Premier was reluctant to arrive here.
“It is State’s responsibility to protect the people”, she said. Especially, she said the community, which is under attack should be protected, Maryam Nawaz said. The PML N leader said that the Hazara community is carrying dead bodies and waiting for you. “You have to come and end this protest”, she said.
“You have to come here and listen to these broken families”, Maryam Nawaz said referring to the community’s demand for the arrival of the Prime Minister. The PML N leader also met with the Hazara women protesting against the killing of coal miners in Balochistan’s Mach.
