Levies men suspended for killing a donkey in Balochistan’s Mastung

The Deputy Commissioner Mastung on Thursday suspended 2 Levies men for killing and filming a donkey. Two levies men filmed the killing of a donkey in Kirdigap tehsil of district Mastung Balochistan. Mehboob Achakzai, the Deputy Commissioner ordered the suspension of the levies personnel and inquiry into the incident.

Video caused outrage on social media 

The video went viral and caused outrage on social media platforms. The people strongly condemned the act and demanded action against the responsible Levies personnel.

“The Deputy Commissioner has suspended both the levies personnel”, a notification issued by the DC’s office said. The levies personnel identified as Muhammad Asim and Gul Khan.

An inquiry committee formed to probe into the incident

The deputy commissioner has formed an inquiry committee comprising the assistant commissioner Mastung to probe into the incident. The committee will submit its report with two days, the notification said. The inquiry team has started its work and collected evidence in this regard.

In the video, the levies men open fire on the donkey and then films the whole scene. This caused outrage on social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, etc. The people strongly condemned the incident and called for action against the responsible personnel. The reaction prompted the Deputy Commissioner to take action against the responsible levies men.

Levies force Balochistan administratively controls over 90 percent area of the province. However, police jurisdiction is limited to urban centers of the province that covers half of the country in terms of area.
