SBK university: dead body of a female professor found

QUETTA: The dead body of a female professor found in Sardar Bahadur Khan (SBK) Women University on Tuesday night. Police said the dead body of assistant professor Dr. Shaista recovered from the hostel.

“We are investigating into the incident”, Azhar Akram, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police said. The cause of the death would be determined after postmortem tomorrow, Mr. Akram said.

Dead body shifted to BMC hospital

The dead body of the assistant professor shifted to the Bolan Medical Complex (BMC) hospital for postmortem. A large number of faculty members and students also reached the BMC hospital. Students and faculty members demanded an independent probe into the incident.

Police reached the spot and an investigation into the incident went underway. Dr. Shaista belongs to Karachi and was teaching in the SBK for the last more than six years.

Policemen collected evidence from the hostel 

On Wednesday morning, policemen again reached the SBK University and collected evidence from the hostel regarding the tragic incident. Police asked questions from the victim’s colleagues and students about the recovery of the dead body.

Over 10,000 female students studying in the SBK 

SBK is Balochistan’s first and only women’s university. Currently, over 10,000 female students from various parts of Balochistan are studying in the university located in the Western outskirt of Quetta city. The university established during former president General (R) Pervez Musharraf’s rule is imparting education to female students of the province.

Terrorists targeted the university in June 2013 

Terrorists had also targeted the university in June 2013. A female suicide bomber blew herself up inside the SBK killing female students and teachers. Despite threats and intimidation, the brave teachers and students of the Wome Univesity kept continued their studies. Since then, the security inside the university is tight.
