Coronavirus among children rises to 16 % in Balochistan: Shahwani

Spokesman government of Balochistan, Liaquat Shahwani on Saturday revealed that the coronavirus cases ratio among children has risen to 16 % in the province. Speaking at a news conference, Mr. Shahwani informed that recently 292 children from age one year to 14 contracted the deadly virus.

“The condition of children is out of danger”, the Spokesman mentioned. He however complained that despite lockdown orders by the provincial government, the traders’ community was not cooperating. “We announced a complete lockdown on Saturday and Sunday but traders refused to do so”, he lamented.

CM directs DCs to implement SOPs

Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan has also directed all deputy commissioners and divisional commissioners to ensure the implementation of the standard operating procedures (SOPs) to battle the virus. “This third wave of the virus is more dangerous”, the Chief Minister said in a statement issued on Saturday evening.

Cases of coronavirus continue to increase in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan. The Corona cell has reported a sudden rise in the cases of the virus.

Balochistan confirms 21, 477 positive cases of coronavirus so far 

The cell has so far confirmed 21, 477 cases of the novel coronavirus, Waseem Baig, the Spokesman Corona Cell said. Mr. Baig said the virus has so far claimed 230 lives in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan since its outbreak last year.

Primary and middle schools across Balochistan would remain closed till Eid ul Fitar. The government has taken this step in view of increasing cases of the COVID19. The Balochistan education department has made this decision in light of the recommendations by the NCOC, Sher Khan Bazai, the Secretary of Education said.

Academic activities from class one to eight will remain suspended 

Academic activities from class one to eighth will remain suspended till Eid in all public and private schools throughout the province, Mr. Bazai said. The government has however decided to keep high schools for students of class 9th and 10th in Balochistan, he mentioned.
