Police lodge FIR against 17 opposition members of Balochistan Assembly

Police on Saturday lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against 17 opposition members of the Balochistan Assembly for subjecting policemen and treasury members to violence. Personal attacks, insults, and violence marred the budget session and harmed the sanctity of the house on Friday. FIR lodged against opposition lawmakers in the Bijli road police station.

“FIR lodged on the application of five injured policemen against the opposition members”, a senior police officer told Quetta Voice. He preferred anonymity. He said five policemen suffered injuries while performing their duties to maintain the order.

“We all opposition members would offer collective arrests before police”, Sanaullah Baloch, the senior parliamentarian from the Balochistan National Party (Mengal) said. He said, “we are not frightened of arrests and cases since we fought for the rights of people of Balochistan”. Three members of the Balochistan Assembly also suffered injuries. 

Police nominated the opposition leader in Balochistan Assembly, Malik Sikandar advocate, Sanaullah Baloch, Abdul Wahid Siddiqui, Nasrullah Khan Zarai, Akhtar Hussain Langove, Shakeel Naveed Dehwar, Hamal Kalmati, Azizullah Agha, and Malik Naseer Shahwani and others in the FIR.

Murder, attempt to murder, threats, violence, and other articles are included, police said.

“We have also submitted an application for FIR”

However, Sanaullah Baloch informed that the opposition has also submitted an application in the police station. “We have nominated chief minister, Jam Kamal Khan and SSP operation”, he mentioned. So far, police have not started any proceedings over our application, Mr. Baloch added.
