Balochistan opposition files petition in court for registration of FIR against CM

QUETTA: Opposition members in Balochistan Assembly have submitted a petition in session court for registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against Chief Minister, Jam Kamal Khan, Inspector General of Police, and the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP).

The opposition has accused the CM and police officers of using ‘force’ against them on June 18 on the eve of the budget session. “We have formally approached the court for registration of FIR”, Sanaullah Baloch, the central leader of Balochistan National Party (Mengal) said. Petition filed under article 22-A of the Constitution, Fahad Mengal Advocate, the Counsel for the opposition stated.

Court to hear the petition on June 26

The court has fixed June 26 as a date of hearing about the petition. The opposition legislators remained inside the Bijli road police station for the fourth consecutive day.

“Withdraw your FIR or register ours”, Malik Sikandar Advocate, the Opposition leader in Balochistan Assembly said. Scores of supporters of opposition parties were also outside the police station.

Opposition members in Balochistan Assembly offered voluntary arrests at Bijli road police station on June 21. Over 17 members from the opposition benches walked from Balochistan Assembly to the police station to offer arrests.
