Explanation notices issued to absent doctors in Saranan Pishin

Health Desk :

District health officer (DHO) Pishin has issued explanation calls to five absent doctors of Rural Health Center (RHC) Saranan. Secretary Secondary and Primary Health, Aziz Ahmed Jamali had paid a surprise visit to the RHC and found five doctors absent.

The absent doctors were identified as Dr. Syed Asmatullah, Dr. Kaleemullah, Dr. Ikramullah, Dr. Hikmatullah, and Dr. Muhammad Wali.

Absent doctors directed to reply within 3 days

The doctors directed to answer the explanation call within three days after the issuance of the notification. The doctors found absent without seeking any permission from health high ups, the notification stated.

“Zero tolerance about absent doctors”, Aziz Ahmed Jamali, the Secretary told Quetta Voice. He said, “I am trying to ensure the presence of doctors to serve the ailing humanity”.

The problem lies at the BHU level

Basic health units, rural health centers, and district headquarters hospitals paint a bleak picture when it comes to service delivery. This is one of the underlying reasons that patients travel for hundreds of miles to reach Quetta for medical treatment.

Indeed, health problem lies at the basic health unit level. If a qualified doctor treats and diagnosis a patient, then it would not only help the recovery of the patient, rather it would also reduce the burden on Quetta’s hospitals. Although, currently patients are at the mercy of quakes in far-flung areas of Balochistan.

The Peoples Primary Health Initiative (PPHI) has performed well in terms of service delivery and provision of medicines to patients in rural Balochistan. PPHI operates over 700 BHUs in rural Balochistan.  200 BHUs are not currently functional in the province.
