Polio eradication is inevitable: CS Balochistan

Chief Secretary Balochistan, Mathar Niaz Rana has termed eradication of poliovirus inevitable. The CS chaired a meeting that thoroughly reviewed June’s anti-polio campaign. Officials from health and other organizations participated in the meeting.

“We will never allow our future to be disabled”, Mr. Rana stated. He said it was the responsibility of the government to protect children from the virus. Children should be prone to the crippling virus, he said.

Balochistan’s government has already imposed an emergency to eradicate the virus. The province has so far reported one polio case from the Killa Abdullah district. Quetta, Pishin, Chaman, and Killa Abdullah districts are considered to be highly sensitive districts regarding the poliovirus.

CS urges parents to provide polio drops to their children 

“People belonging to all walks of life should play their role”, the CS mentioned. He urged the parents to ensure the provision of polio drops to their children.

The officials also briefed the CS about the steps and strategy for eradication of the poliovirus in Balochistan. The meeting also discussed all ways and means to address the issue of chronic refusals in Quetta block.

Officials in the health department put the number of chronic refusals at 13,000. The government has formed committees to convince the parents to ensure the provision of polio drops to children.
