UNHCR representative discusses influx of refugees with CM Balochistan

QUETTA: Country representative of United Nations High Commissioner Refugees (UNHCR) Pakistan, Ms. Noriko Yoshida called on Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan on Monday.

Ms. Noriko discussed the possible influx of Afghan refugees and unfolding events in Afghanistan with CM Balochistan, an official handout released to the press said. She also discussed steps taken by UNHCR and the Balochistan government for the welfare of Afghan refugees in the province.

UNHCR to extend support if Pakistan decides to host refugees: Ms. Noriko 

Speaking on the occasion, she assured that UNHCR would provide all possible cooperation if the government decides to host Afghan refugees. Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Arshad Majeed, Principle Secretary to the CM Balochistan, Zahid Saleem, Commissioner Afghan Refugees Balochistan, Masood Ahmed Khan, and other high ups were also present on the occasion.

The number of Afghan nationals entering Pakistan has increased at the Pak-Afghan border Chaman in the aftermath of unfolding events in the neighboring country.
