For the first time polio, environmental samples test negative in Chaman

CHAMAN: For the first time, polio environmental samples collected from sewerage water tested negative in Chaman, Pakistan’s bordering city with Afghanistan. District administration and polio officials revealed this during a seminar on Thursday.

Polio officials had collected the environmental samples and sent them to the laboratory. The laboratory tested all samples negative, an official of the Emergency Operation Cell (EOC) said.

Journalists from Chaman participate in the seminar 

Journalists associated with various media groups participated in a polio awareness seminar at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Chaman. Yaseen Khan, Naqeebullah Achakzai, and Tehsildar Abdul Razzaq Tareen shed light on the importance of vaccination for children under the age of five years.

The participants of the awareness seminar thoroughly discussed ways and means to eradicate the crippling virus from the district. They emphasized the need for coordinated efforts to battle the virus.

Balochistan has so far reported one polio case from the Killa Abdullah district. Polio officials described the reason behind the case refusal on behalf of parents to provide polio drops.

Niamatullah Sarhadi of Voice of America, Saeed Ali Achakza from Samaa, and other journalists participated in the seminar. The participants of the seminar vowed to keep continue their struggle against the crippling virus in the country.
