Governor asked to convene the Balochistan Assembly session
The Governor should convene the meeting tomorrow and ask the CM to get a vote of confidence, the opposition leader demanded. The Spokesman Government of Balochistan, Liaquat Shahwani strongly rejected the opposition’s demand and said that the incumbent CM still enjoys the support of all lawmakers.
“The CM has confessed that only 24 members support him”, Malik Naseer Shahwani said. He noted that the CM requires 33 members constitutionally.
The opposition leader however stated that the main coalition partner Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf (PTI) has also announced that it would support a Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) candidate who enjoys the support of the majority.
CM refuses to step down despite demands
Chief Minister Jam Kamal has repeatedly rejected the demand for resignation by the BAP angry members and opposition parties. The CM invited all coalition partners including the Awami National Party (ANP), Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP), PTI, and Hazara Democratic Party (HDP) at a luncheon on Saturday. All the lawmakers also posed for a photo with the CM to express solidarity with him.
The BAP angry members also held consultative meetings to discuss the prevailing unfolding political events in the province. Serious differences erupted within the ruling party after the opposition submitted a no-confidence motion against CM Jam Kamal on September 16.
