PM Khan directs planning commission to prepare Northern Balochistan Package

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister, Imran Khan has directed the Planning Commission to prepare Northern Balochistan Package similar to Southern Balochistan. The Premier passed this directive during a meeting with Chief Minister, Abdul Quddus Bizenjo. This is the second of the CM Bizenjo with the Prime Minister since assuring the charge as the Chief Executive of the province.
The CM apprised the Premier about the ongoing development projects and financial needs of Balochistan during the meeting. “No obstacle in the way of development of Balochistan would be tolerated”, Imran Khan made it clear. He said the present government was committed to developing Balochistan and bringing it at par with other parts of the country.
PM expresses displeasure over delay in development projects
The Prime Minister expressed displeasure over the delay in connecting Mekran with the national grid station and Islamabad-funded federal projects in Balochistan. The CM demanded of the PM to restore trade activities in bordering areas with Iran and Afghanistan.
Mr. Bizenjo informed the PM that a large number of people have lost their jobs because of the closure of borders, an official handout issued on Friday said. The Prime Minister directed the concerned federal agencies to play resume border trade to facilitate the people of Balochistan, the handout mentioned.
Border markets to boost trade with neighboring countries
The establishment of markets at borders would boost trade activities with neighboring countries, Mr. Bizenjo stated. He thanked PM Imran Khan for his support to the Balochistan government and its people. The CM stated that the present government has decided to address the business grievances of the traders’ community at borders with Iran and Afghanistan.
Pakistan has already opened a formal border at Gabad Gwadar with Iran besides the Taftan crossing point. Similarly, the federal government has opened Badini with neighboring Afghanistan to boost trade activities.
