Police arrest 19 doctors in red zone of Quetta

Health Desk :

Police had launched a crackdown against the protesting doctors in the Red Zone area of Quetta. Police arrested 19 doctors during the crackdown. “Doctors shifted to civil line police station Quetta”, a senior police officer said.

Activists of the Young Doctors Association (YDA) were staging a sit-in in support of their demands in the red zone of Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province. Paramedical staff had also joined the protest of YDA.

“Doctors picked up by police for violation of COVID19”, the official said. The YDA has strongly condemned the police raid and termed it an unlawful act. The organization has demanded an immediate release of the arrested doctors.

The YDA protest had caused the worst traffic jam in the red zone area of Quetta. People were facing difficulties in reaching their destination because of the blockade of the road.

YDA and paramedics have been protesting against the government for the lack of basic facilities at the government-run hospitals in Balochistan.
