Jan Jamali sworn in as 17th Speaker of Balochistan Assembly

QUETTA: Mir Jan Muhammad Jamali was sworn in as the 17th Speaker of the Balochistan Assembly on Friday. Deputy Speaker Sardar Babar Musakhail administered oath to the speaker of the assembly. Mr. Jamali belongs to the ruling Balochistan Awami Party (BAP).

The house had elected Mr. Jamali as the custodian of the house on October 20th. However, Jamali was shifted to Karachi for medical treatment because of his health conditions. Jamali remained under treatment for weeks and returned to Quetta the other day.

Jamali replaces Bizenjo as the custodian of the house

Jamali has replaced Mir Quddus Bizenjo as the custodian of the house. Mr. Bizenjo was elected as the 17th Chief Minister of Balochistan after the resignation of Jam Kamal Khan as the Chief Executive of the province.

Lawmakers from opposition and treasury benches congratulated Jan Muhammad Jamali over his election as the Speaker of the BA. In their speeches, the legislators expressed the hope that Mr. Jamali would run the proceedings of the house in an impartial and transparent way.
