CM Balochistan approves establishment of Environmental Laboratory

QUETTA: Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Quddus Bizenjo has approved the establishment of an environmental laboratory. The laboratory would be established at the Lasbella University of Water and Marine Sciences Uthal, an official handout issued on Friday evening said. The estimated cost of the project is Rs. 100 million.

The CM has given the approval on a summary sent by the Balochistan Environment department. Lasbella University would extend all technical assistance regarding the establishment of the laboratory.

Laboratory to survey, analyze the effects of industrial waste

The purpose of the laboratory is to regularly survey and analyze the effects of industrial waste and the environment. The establishment of an Environmental Laboratory will help in minimizing the environmental pollution caused by industries. The establishment of the laboratory was a longstanding demand of environmentalists and intelligentsia of Balochistan.

Balochistan, which covers half of the country is prone to natural disasters. The province has faced the brunt of global warming and climate change in terms of earthquakes, floods, and drought-hit-like situations.
