Balochistan Govt allocates Rs.6 billion for treatment of cancer, heart patients

QUETTA: The provincial government has allocated a total of Rs.6 billion for the Balochistan Awami Endowment Fund (BAEF). Under the BAEF, the government would provide free medical treatment to cancer, heart, kidney, liver, etc patients across the province.
“CM Mir Quddus Bizenjo approved an additional amount of Rs.2 billion for the fund”, the Spokesman Chief Minister’s Secretariat said on Monday evening. The CM passed this order on a summary sent by the Balochistan Social Welfare Department in this regard.

An increase in the amount of seed money is aimed at providing free medical treatment to the deserving and poor patients of Balochistan, the Spokesman mentioned. The BAEF is a unique program launched in Balochistan to support deserving and needy patients.
Patients under the BAEF would be entitled to get treatment in Quetta and other parts of Pakistan. The government had launched the endowment fund in 2018 to provide medical treatment to cancer, kidney transplant, liver transplant, thalassemia, cardiac diseases, and other patients suffering from major diseases.
Former Chief Minister, Jam Kamal Khan once revealed that 1200 patients under the BAEF were treated across Balochistan.
