Quetta’s Red Zone was opened for common traffic after 17 years on Sunday evening. Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Quddus Bizenjo personally visited the Red Zone and directed the policemen to open the road for the common man. “We are trying hard to address the issues of the masses”, Mr. Bizenjo told reporters after opening one of the key routes. Governor Balochistan, Syed Zahoor Ahmed Agha was also present on the occasion.

The Red Zone houses Governor’s House, Chief Minister’s Secretariat, and other important buildings. The government had prohibited the entry of the common man in the Red Zone after repeated acts of terrorism.

Provincial ministers and senior officials were also present on the occasion. “This was a longstanding demand of the masses”, the Chief Minister stated. He said the government has taken this initiative to address the issue of the worst traffic jam in Quetta.

“This will help reduce the burden of traffic in the city”, Quddus Bizenjo said. He said he has directed the police and traffic police officials to evolve a better strategy to solve the issue of the worst traffic jam in the city.
