QUETTA: Former Chief Minister Balochistan, Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch has said that possible political change in the country would ensure the holding of fair and transparent elections. He expressed these views while addressing a news conference at Quetta Press Club on Wednesday evening.

The former deputy secretary-general of the Baloch Students Organization (BSO), Jamil Baloch, and others also announced the joining of the National Party (NP) on the occasion.

Dr. Baloch expressed the hope that possible political change in the country would have a positive impact on the overall situation. He said NP was part of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) and it abides by its decisions. “We are part of the PDM”, he mentioned.

Reko Diq agreement should be made public: Dr. Malik Baloch

Regarding the recently signed Reko Diq agreement, Dr. Baloch reiterated that his party would not accept the agreement until it is made public. “Rights of indigenous people should be protected”, the former CM mentioned. He said the government has failed to take the indigenous people and political parties on board while making this decision.

He reiterated that NP would continue its struggle for the acquisition of Baloch rights in the country. “Despite all odds, our stance is clear about constitution and rights”, he added.
