Sherani forest fire brought under control after hectic efforts: Spokesperson

QUETTA: Balochistan government has imposed ban on all kinds of cooking activities and camping in all forests of the province in the wake of Sherani forest fire.
The provincial government has imposed ban on such activities in Ziarat forests, Shaban, Chiltan Range, Hazarganji, Karkhasa, Sherani, Zhob, Musakhail, Kohlu forests, Barkhan forests, Harboi Kalat and other forests in Balochistan.
According to a notification issued by the Home and Tribal Affairs Department, the province is facing drought hit like situation and there is a looming danger of fire eruption in these forests.
All concerned deputy commissioners and officials have been directed to ensure implementation of the order of the home department in this regard, the notification concluded.
The government has made this decision in the aftermath of roaring flames of fire in the Sherani forest in the Koh e Suleman Range.
The fire has burnt down ancient olive and pine trees in the Sherani forest in an area of more than 30 kilometres.
