QUETTA: Balochistan government on Wednesday wrote a letter to the Registrar Balochistan High Court (BHC) regarding the nomination of a judge to conduct judicial inquiry into the Ziarat operation. The government agreed to establish a judicial commission on the demand of the family members of Baloch missing persons.

Family members of missing persons have been protesting in the Red Zone of Quetta and claimed that missing persons were killed in Ziarat operation. However, Balochistan Home Minister, Mir Ziaullah Langove stated that security forces killed terrorists in the area.

The Balochistan Home and Tribal Affairs department wrote a letter dated July 27, a copy of which is available with quettavoice.com, to the BHC registrar stating: “ […] Government of Balochistan intends to conduct a ‘judicial inquiry’ by a honourable judge of High Court of Balochistan into the killing of persons in Ziarat operation under ‘The Balochistan Tribunal of Inquiry Ordinance 1969’ […].“

Security forces had launched an operation for the recovery of Lt Colonel Laiq Baig Mirza who was later martyred in Ziarat. Security forces had killed nine terrorists associated with a proscribed organization, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on July 16.
