CS Balochistan orders spray in flood hit areas to stop spread of malaria

The Chief Secretary of Balochistan, Abdul Aziz Uqaili directed the concerned authorities at a meeting to conduct spraying in the flood-hit areas in order to stop the spread of malaria. After the passage of floods, many diseases especially malaria have broken out in different areas of Balochistan.

Stagnant water on a large scale can be seen in many areas, that provide space for the reproduction of mosquitoes. Health officials revealed to this daily the other day that more than 20000 people had contracted malaria during the last month in Balochistan.

CS Balochistan presided over a meeting in which the availability of tents and medicines to treat malaria were reviewed. Secretary Health, Director General (DG) Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Commissioner Nasirabad, and the deputy commissioners of the affected areas held the meeting through a video link.

“Comprehensive steps must be taken to prevent the spread of malaria, and availability of the medicines must be ensured”, the CS stated.

The meeting discussed that the Doctors and paramedical staff would be deployed in three shifts. Strict action will be taken against the Doctors and para-medical staff who are absent.

The Health Department and Local Government should be completely prepared to fight against the pandemic diseases, the meeting decided.
