Pak Afghan border Chaman would be reopened tomorrow (Monday) after successful negotiations between officials of the two countries. The border between the two countries remained closed for seven days as a terrorist opened fire at the Pakistani forces a few days back. One frontier corps soldier embraced martyrdom in the attack, Abdul Hameed Zehri, Deputy Commissioner Chaman said.

“We have decided to reopen the border from Monday”, Mr. Zehri said in a video message obtained by the Daily Quetta Voice on Sunday evening. He narrated the disturbing incident, which caused the closure of the border between the two countries.

Successful negotiations held between the two countries

“Some elements tried to create differences between the two countries”, the DC Chaman said. He said the officials of the two countries held thorough and successful negotiations and agreed to reopen the border.

The Afghan government’s delegation led by Maulavi Abdul Shakoor and Haji Mullah Agha Qomandan participated in the talks and expressed grief and sorrow over the sad incident. They assured the accused would be taken to task and that steps would be taken to avert such kinds of incidents in the future.

DC Chaman Abdul Hameed Zehri, officials from the frontier corps and tribal elders participated in the negotiations from the Pakistan side. The two sides agreed to reopen the border amid tight security and improved coordination between the forces of the two countries.

People heaved a sigh of relief after announcement of reopening the border

For seven days, people living on both sides of the border suffered a lot because of the closure of the border. The incident caused the complete suspension of trade, and business activities and pedestrian movement also came to standstill. After this announcement, people stranded on both sides of the border heaved a sigh of relief.
