NEWS DESK:
The Polio campaign is to commence in 203 Union Councils of Balochistan province today. A total of 6 districts will be covered in this anti-polio campaign. The one-week anti-polio campaign will be giving polio virus drops nearly to 1 Million children under five years.
Around 4,160 teams are assigned to run the campaign in the province. The teams will be provided with full proof of security by Balochistan Levies Force, Police, and Frontier Corps.
Poliovirus can target those children who are deprived of polio drops.
No Polio Case Reported in Balochistan since 2021:
No case of polio has been reported in Balochistan since January 2021. The presence of the polio virus in the districts of other provinces of the country and in Afghanistan is a big threat to the children of Balochistan province.
All parents are requested to fully cooperate with the polio workers during the campaign to prevent polio and to give the polio vaccine to their children, Syed Zahid Shah, the Chief of the Emergency Operation Cell said.
Near to 1 Million Children to be given polio drops:
Around 978,000 children under five years of age will be given polio vaccinations. Syed Zaid Shah said that no case of polio has been reported in Balochistan since January 2021, and there is no poliovirus in the environment of Balochistan since April 2021. The presence of poliovirus in the districts of other provinces of the country and in Afghanistan is a big threat to the children of Balochistan province.
