The Deputy Commissioner Gwadar stated that, trade centers and business activities have been restored in Gwadar city. According to his statement, shops, banks and petrol pumps have opened, while normal life has been restored in Sarbandar as well.
It should be noted that the shutter down strike was going on in Gwadar, Ormara and Pasni against the arrest of the leaders of the Gwadar Rights Movement (GRM). The activists had completely closed the Makran Coastal Highway Ormara and Pasni zero points for general traffic. The police had stormed the sit-in of GRM and many leaders and activists including leader of the movement Hussain Wadela were arrested.
Baton-wielding policemen were deployed in various parts of the port city to maintain order. The arrested people belong to Gwadar Rights Movement (GRM), according to reports from Gwadar, there was a complete shutter strike in the city. “The protesters are violent and violating the law”, the Spokesperson Balochistan government said.
All mobile networks and internet services are completely suspended in Gwadar, including Pasni, and Ormara. The protesters staged a dharna in front of Pasni Press Club and blocked the main highway for traffic and a heavy contingent of police has been deployed up to zero point, 6 km from Ormara city.
