CM Bizenjo asks Islamabad to include 3 major dams in federal PSDP

Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Abdul Quddos Bizenjo sent a letter to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in which he demanded to include three major dams worth 143 billion rupees in the federal Private Sector Development Program (PSDP) 2023-24.

The Public Health Engineering (PHE) has prepared a feasibility report of three important dams to solve the serious problem of water shortage in Quetta city. The PHE department has prepared the feasibility report and PC 1 of Babar Kach Dam, Brij Aziz Khan Dam and Halk Dam.

The estimated cost of Babar Kach Dam is 73 billion rupees, the estimated cost of Brij Aziz Khan Dam is 48 billion rupees and the estimated cost of Halk Dam is 22 billion rupees. The Federal Government will be requested by the provincial government to include these projects in the Federal PSDP 2023-24.

The construction of Babar Kach Dam is indispensable to meet the water needs of Quetta. Apart from Babar Kach Dam, the provincial government has also prepared the feasibility of Brij Aziz Khan Dam and Halk Dam projects.

The construction of dams will help for meeting the water needs of the capital city. It will also be possible to avoid the loss of flood water during the monsoon season.
